When we talk about absorbable suspension threads, we are talking about a temporary, non-surgical face-lift.
How do they work?
The various instruments available to aesthetic medicine include absorbable suspension threads. These threads are placed under the skin with the aim of correcting and/or preventing excessive sagging of the face. The threads are positioned after the application of a small amount of local anaesthetic at the site of insertion and are pushed through a cannula into the area to be treated (e.g. the jaw line or the eyebrow arch). Once in position, the thread is anchored to the tissues by means of small barbs and the tension required by the patient is then applied to the thread (and consequently to the tissues). This procedure is particularly well-suited in cases of slight to moderate skin slackening or for patients who want a “trial run” in anticipation of a surgical face-lift at a later date.
This procedure does not involve a period of isolation from social life, as the small bruises that may appear in the week following treatment, are easily camouflaged with ordinary foundation. Absorbable suspension threads correct sagging facial skin non-invasively for a period of 6-8 months.
