Through reconstructive surgery it is possible to correct and improve the appearance of unsightly scars that are the result of trauma or surgery.
How does scar correction work?
Depending on the type of scar and the area affected, the scar line is surgically removed. In the case of keloid scars, repeated cortisone injections can be administered during the weeks following surgery to reduce the risk of recurrence. Reconstructive surgery, performed under local anaesthesia, does not require hospitalisation.
Total or partial correction of the defect is discussed at length with the patient before embarking on the treatment.
