Mastopexy is a cosmetic surgery procedure for the correction of sagging breasts, a problem also known as “breast ptosis”. Mastopexy returns the breasts to their correct position to give them a more toned and youthful appearance.
How does mastopexy work?
Due to sagging skin, prolonged breastfeeding or significant weight loss, the breasts may look saggy and flat. Mastopexy lifts the breast to its original position and may be combined with an augmentation using a breast implant or lipofilling (injection of the patient’s own fat) if the breast is too “empty”.
The surgery reshapes the breasts, restoring them to their original shape. The scars are usually visible, especially during the first six months after surgery.
