Otoplasty is a surgical procedure that aims to correct any deformities of the pinna (external ear), such as “Dumbo ears”, which are usually hereditary anatomical feature and can create a number of insecurities and discomforts in those who have them. The aim of the operation is to reposition the pinna correctly, trying to create an overall harmony with the face.
How does otoplasty work?
The operation is performed under general anaesthesia or sedation. A vertical incision is made in the posterior region of the pinna, repositioning the cartilage with internal sutures, and is invisible on the outside. The new position of the pinnae respects the agreements made with the patient during the first consultation.
Otoplasty is undoubtedly a safe surgical procedure that offers a stable result over time, more than satisfying the demands of patients.
